IRCC launched an online permanent residence application portal

On July 6, 2021, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada launched a new online permanent residence application portal. The Centralized Intake Office (CIO) enables applicants to apply for select economic permanent resident programs and submit their applications online. Now, such applications can be submitted online or on paper to the CIO in Sydney. New instructions apply to Non-Express Entry applications and provide guidance on reviewing applications for completeness and putting them into the process. The CIO receives both paper-based and online applications submitted under the PNP, the start-up business class, the self-employed persons class, the AIPP, the RNIP, and the AFIP. #IRCC, #CIO, #PR, #Non_Express_Entry, #economic_immigration, #RNIP, #AIPP, #AFIP, #SUV, #SEPP https://prson-srpel.apps.cic.gc.ca/en/login https://convirzon.ca/Client/ghimmigration/cus-immigration-news/ircc-has-launched-a-series-of-online-portals/

Canada updated medical examination instructions for temporary resident applicants

On July 6, 2021, the Government of Canada updated the description of the occupations for which temporary residence applicants are required to submit an immigration medical examination. These are essential public health occupations that require the applicants to be in close contact with people, and regardless of the length of stay medical examination must be submitted. In addition, medical and health care students, as well as persons who want to apply for a visa or permit and have spent more than six consecutive months in a country for which a medical examination is required, also have to undergo a medical examination. #Medical_examination, #Medical_exam, #TRV, #IRCC   https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/publications-manuals/operational-bulletins-manuals/updates/2021-temporary-resident-medical-examinations.html

Canada implemented new regulations for PR applicants

Permanent residence applicants applying outside of Canada need a permanent resident travel document (PRTD) to travel to Canada. According to the immigration department's website, if the Visa Application Centres are closed in the territory where applicants live, they can submit their PRTD application by email. Canada's Visa Application Centre in China recently announced on its official website that starting June 1, 2021, applicants for a PRTD need to submit their application to IRCC by email. The grace period for this process was one month, so PRTD applicants can no longer submit their applications through the Visa Application Centre as of July 1, 2021. #Permanent_residence, #PR, #PRTD, #IRCC

Canada introduced new guidance for temporary resident visas

On June 30, 2021, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) introduced new instructions for temporary resident visas on processing open temporary resident visa (TRV) applications during the pandemic. Although the priority is to continue processing applications where the client meets a travel restriction exemption and travels for a non-discretionary purpose, immigration officers will have to continue to determine to what extent they have the capacity to process non-priority applications, and process a final decision for open TRV applications for applicants who are not eligible to travel to Canada during the pandemic #IRCC, #TRV, #Temporary_resident_visa, #visitor_visa https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/publications-manuals/operational-bulletins-manuals/service-delivery/coronavirus.html
