Quebec wants to accept more than 71,000 permanent residents in 2022
In an interview with the French-language Radio Canada television network, Quebec Immigration Minister Jean Boulet downplayed this year's increase in immigration to the province. The
province is expected to reach a new peak of 71,275 new permanent residents in 2022, up more than 41.7 percent from 50,285 last year, as the province attempts to make up for candidates who
were unable to come at the height of the COVID-19. If the government does decide to increase immigration levels above current rates, that would result in 20,990 more new permanent residents in
Quebec this year than it was last year.

When people apply to Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), they generally devote a significant amount of time filling out forms and gathering documents.
Applicants should be aware that visa officers will carefully examine their documents before making a decision.
Applicants must realize, though, that artificial intelligence is playing an increasingly important role in processing large numbers of applications.
Automated processing of certain types of applications is not unusual. Since 2015, the majority of visa-free foreign citizens had to apply for an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) before travelling to Canada.
For the most part, these applications were automated. As of 2020, the Government of Canada uses analytics systems to accelerate the eligibility approval of straight-forward cases.

The Immigration and Refugee Board (IRB) and the Global Case Management System (GCMS) have updated the Nova system to transfer and receive information via the electronic sharing between
the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and the IRB. No later than June 30, 2022, IRCC, the CBSA, and the IRB will start using the new updated system.

On April 22, 2022, Sean Fraser, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), announced the Government’s plans to resume Express Entry draws in early July.
As a result of the temporary pause, Canada has diminished more than half of the federal high-skilled processing inventory, from 111,900 people in September 2021 to just 48,000 people by March 2022.
According to the announcement, the inventory will be further reduced by July 2022 to help the Government return to the service standards.
